The Sendai Akiu Visitor Center is a facility which introduces the features of nature in Akiu by displaying informational panels and models. You will get to know the rich natural environment of Zao National park and prefectural natural Park Futakuchi valley.
We manage reservations on Futakuchi campground. When you go hiking on Daito-dake, please remember to fill out the entry form here. Please feel free to use this center.

Usage Guidelines
- You can enter the building with your shoes on. However, if you’ve been hiking, please check your shoes for leeches.
- The entire facility is non-smoking.
- Food is allowed inside the building, but please refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages.
- Pets are not allowed inside the building. However, guide dogs are permitted.
- Kindly take your trash with you.
- A tatami corner in the exhibition area, but it is not a sleeping area. Feel free to read or relax there.
- No open flames allowed inside the building.
- AED is available at the office.
- If you are not visiting the Visitor Center, kindly use the Sendai City parking lot located 50 meters ahead.
Entrance Hall
You can find information about the area and check in for the campground.
Photo panels of Sudare Falls, Banji Rock, and Akiu Great Falls will greet you.
Exhibition Area
We use panels and terrain models to clearly showcase the plants, animals, nature, and waterfalls of Futakuchi Valley.
Seminar Room
Climbing Plan Submission Desk
There are “Climber Registration Cards” available. If you’re hiking mountains such as Daito-dake or Mt.sanpoukurayama, please be sure to fill one out.
Shower Facilities
Located next to the Visitor Center building, there are 4 shower rooms in total (2 for men, 2 for women).
Anyone, including campers, hikers, and climbers, can use the facilities (no need to check in at the Visitor Center).
