Japanese Macaques / Snow Monkey
Order Primates, Family Cercopithecidae
They live in evergreen broad-leaved forests and deciduous forests in the low mountain ranges from the coastline south of Honshu. The Japanese macaques that live on the Shimokita Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture are known as the northernmost monkeys. They also live in the Akiu region, and live in groups of about 20 individuals.
